China Remains Culpable for Murdering More Than 1.7 Million People

It is the 29th December and this will likely be my last post for the year. The reason is that tomorrow I go to get my new Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppy. I have named him Rocco because he is going to grow into 20 KG of solid muscle and I am reminded of Sylvester Stallone’s physique in Rocky III. Staffordshire Bull terriers are a very misunderstood bread. They look frightening when fully grown but temperamentally they are extremely loving and affectionate and have playful personalities. They are also known to be incredibly good natured with children. So, that’s the puppy. What to make of 2020 as we look towards 2021? I have of late been following three trains of thought that all relate to our safety and security both now and into the future. The first train of thought has focussed on China. Then there is Trump and finally we Covid-19 will still be with us well into 2021. Indeed, it could be the case that Covid-19 will be with us for a long time even though vaccines are currently being distributed throughout the world. The Chinese are to blame for this fact just as they are to blame for the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases and number of deaths worldwide in 2020. According to my preferred data source, as of today there have been 81,669,521 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in 218 countries and territories along with 1,781,442 deaths. Anyone following my blog will know that I refer to these deaths as “murders” because Beijing acted recklessly and with a hardened heart in spreading Covid-19 around the world.

However, we can be certain that the two inquiries into the origins and spread of Covid-19 will not see matters in this light. One inquiry is being run by the former Prime Minister of New Zealand, Helen Clark. Clark’s co-chair is Ellen Johnson Sirleaf – the former president of Liberia. From what I can tell, the Clark and Sirleaf inquiry will produce a report that will consolidate the evidence and opinions of 194 member states of the World Health Organization (WHO). At the same time, an inquiry is being run by the WHO. The WHO inquiry is the one that Australia called for in early 2020. However, on one line of thought, the WHO inquiry is a watered down version of the inquiry that Australia wanted to see. Whether or not this is the case, China has made Australia suffer for daring to call for an independent inquiry into the origins and spread of Covid-19. This year has seen China hit Australia with all sorts of trade tariffs and trade embargos to punish Australia for its behaviour. China’s strategy has simply not worked and Beijing has become increasingly frustrated with Australia. This fact led to a Chinese diplomat “leaking” a document that listed 14 grievances that China had with Australia. Australia was expected to address the grievances in order to placate Beijing. That did not happen and at this point in time China remains extremely angry with Australia. Here is an amusing fact. As reported by worldometer Australia has a population of 25,499,884 people. China is a land with a population of 1,442,090,752 people. How utterly embarrassing for Xi Jinping. He cannot bend a tiny island to his will.

Beijing Will Forever Be Arrogant, Deceitful and Determined to Bully the World

I mentioned above the WHO inquiry into the origins and spread of Covid-19. As reported by SBS News, China is currently congratulating itself on the way in which it has handled the pandemic. The Chinese News Agency Xinhua reported that, “At the critical moment . . . the Party Central Committee took a long-term view . . . achieving an extremely extraordinary glory in this extremely unusual year“. I’m not even going to comment on the standard of English. Instead I shall comment on China’s hubris, arrogance and staggering impropriety. China spread the virus around the world has murdered over 1.7 million people and yet I know of not a single instance where China has apologised for this fact. Rather China is congratulating itself and letting the world know that the Chinese form of government should be seen as superior. Meanwhile China continues to silence dissent just as it did in the early days of the virus. As reported by the Daily Mail, Chinese citizen journalist, 37, who reported on Wuhan’s coronavirus outbreak is jailed for 4 years for reporting the truth about the Covid outbreak in Wuhan. She has been found “found guilty of ‘picking quarrels and provoking trouble’ for her criticism of the Wuhan government’s handling of the crisis at the peak of the outbreak”. Seriously, what kind of justice system is it when you can be sentenced to 4 years in jail for “picking quarrels and provoking trouble”? Meanwhile China continues to claim that the virus did not originate in China, a strategy that Beijing has employed since the very early days of the outbreak of the virus. I wonder if Xi Jinping understands that no one believes China’s lies.

I Can Only Think That Trump Is a Lunatic and We Should Be Concerned Until He Leaves Office

I follow the same routine every morning. I get up, I make a cup of coffee and then I go to sit in my garden to chain smoke and read the morning’s news stories. The only thing that has changed recently is that I open up my various news apps with a slight sense of trepidation. The reason for this fact is that I am worried about what Trump might do before he leaves office. Trump is after all and in my opinion utterly mad. Remember that this is a man who suggested that injecting oneself with bleach might combat Covid-19. There really is only one way to interpret that suggestion. Madness. This madman will not leave the Whitehouse until January 20th and so according to a live feed Trump still has 21 days as president. I find that thought scary. Sure, for now he seems to be intent on pardoning his cronies and playing golf but what happens if he has a madder day than usual and decides he would like to start a war somewhere. Or, as recently reported, it could be that he is hatching a plan to re-run the election in key states under the rule of martial law. Take a look at this report from CNN News in which the reported talks about how large segments of the American population are becoming radicalized. The idea of radicalization is a simple one. People are taking up extreme positions such as believing that the entire US election press was fraudulent and that martial law should be imposed. Another example would be the belief that Trump’s lawsuits all failed because of some massive conspiracy to ensure that he does not remain in the Whitehouse. Why is this happening. Well, on my reading of a story from The Guardian, Trump is a radical. His views are extreme whether views about America or about American foreign policy. As long as Trump is around, there will be danger.
